Litchgate led the prestigious Slytherin Song Society in school, and thereafter
enjoyed a successful career as a singer and composer. Hail, Hogwarts, Hail,
composed when Litchgate was a sixth-year, remains the official school song
to this day. Litchgate provoked a tempest in 1916 when he performed the
Goblin Anthem (Ookbleckh Oog) at a society part hosted by Julian Bleak.
Goblin armies were already mustering on British borders, and such an open
display of Goblin sympathy smacked of sedition. Litchgate quickly apologized,
and was active as an entertainer in the Goblin Wars that followed. His career flourished
in the post-war years, and many of his wizard recordings remain popular to this day.
